Back on furlough, still in the ethereal reality we all live in. It remains difficult to even comprehend wearing face masks, never mind get used to it. But so many of us are simply accepting. What, four months?
Met my friend Denise for lunch last week, first time we’ve gotten together during all this. That’s just so weird. But a long overdue visit with promises for more.
Our area and state are doing well, virus numbers-wise. It’s difficult to comprehend what other areas of the country are going through. And the only thing we know for sure is it’s not going away, so keep them masks handy.
And then all the video conferencing – from work meetings to town meetings to upcoming political conventions….on and on. Voting by mail (should be online). I think these sorts of things signal the new way, period. Who needs to go out anymore?
Online stores flourish, small business gets bit, hard. Sorry times. But our reality. Delivery trucks certainly come here, so, apologies if we’re part of the problem.
FYI, my Book III will be another week or two before pubbing. Got great feedback from beta readers, who say it’s the best of the series. Decided to let it sit for a week, then a final proof. But I dally not. I’m studying an intense indie author advertising course and will have a series promotion commencing soon, followed by a boxed set promotion.
And more fun – I’m back in book one of my next series, reliving the mystery story I wrote a few years ago and loving everything about it. The voice, the mood, the timeframe, the protagonist, the femme fatale (that’s such fun to say!). Contemporary (pre-cell phone) noir. Quite excited to get that project sailing.
So…..best wishes for a lovely, if odd, summer. Flying by, once again. Even pandemics can’t prevent that. Nevertheless, it is summer, and no matter how we look at our circumstances, it’s still a special time. Enjoy!
