That thing called sleep is pretty far out! About once a year I actually get eight hours of it, and Saturday night I did just that – slept like the dead for eight straight hours. Sunday I did some editing but decided to mostly take the day off – hung out with Leigh, watched half of a documentary about Joan Didion, a fascinating writer/thinker. All good stuff! But my weekend highlight was realizing where Book III – and the series – was going.
I knew there was a destination, but I didn’t know just what that was until Saturday morning, as I sat right right here, in this cushioned chair, staring at this laptop, and it suddenly opened up to me. And I have to say, it’s awesome! I will write III as the conclusion to the series but will leave it so I can pick it up again if I choose. In other words, depending on how well it sells.
I have another series I want to get into after that, a protagonist I like quite a bit, who is actually the male reporter in this series. I’ve alluded to his having lived something of a double life early on, and the fact that he made a bunch of money on the side somehow. This mystery series will be about him in the pre-cellphone days.
But first things first! I love the changes that took place in Book II, and I really love where Book III is headed. I hope I can live up to my expectations that should make this a truly good, satisfying series. Then we’ll market the nuts out of it while working on the Peter MacAlister mysteries.
So – here we go!
